The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 朝着essay film拍的。有清晰的论述路线，有个人观点的抒发，但是完成的还不够出彩。文笔优美但不有趣。总体上看还是太过平庸了。一星给华金，一星给新人Woody Norman，一星给Robbie Ryan的摄影。华金不必多说什么了，给出了极其自然的、生活化的表演，整个人无比松弛。片中还穿着他最爱的帆布鞋。要不是因为华金主演我肯定也不会专程跑去影院看。Mike Mills编与导的综合能力实在欠佳建议就别再尝试编导合一的身份捆绑了。以及能不能别乱用德彪西的moonlight啊，一开始以为只是预告里用了两下，没想到正片也这样…
7分。轻柔又温暖。怎么能把一个司空见惯的侄子与不熟悉的舅舅相处的故事拍得动人？也许真诚是唯一的答案。其实小孩子的心是很单纯的，谁对他好他十分清楚，而且小孩子也愿意回馈别人的好。侄子和舅舅的感情在陌生、试探、信任中不断升温，在平淡的日常中逐渐巩固。短暂的相伴后，肯定各自都需要回到原来的生活，可是感情有了，回忆不会丢，三个原本有一些隔阂的人也更亲近了，糟糕的生活得到喘息。华金·菲尼克斯和小孩伍迪·诺曼都演得不错。黑白画面爵士感很足。

看得我心酸。哎，这个温柔敏感奇怪又酷的小孩啊。亲人之间奇特的爱与联结。世界上人和人之间的联结，无数的问题，小孩子的视野和想法。人文中带着一点失落和伤心。我很喜欢这部电影。
仿佛在做therapy，快要变成鸡汤。是温暖的生活切片。大家都过着操蛋的日子，只能默念或大喊c'mon c'mon。穿插各种采访作为副线也多一层讨论。quote一个评论说是“论文电影”。Jesse演技太棒。黑白镜头下的城市看起来比现实干净太多。
每年去看大概就为了一个情怀吧。现在已经很难把柯南归为大人也可以享受乐趣的电影。推理部分弱化到最小，每一对cp都要的三角恋，最后柯南排除万难的情节也设置的让人无语。让我不禁怀疑难道东京发达的下水道系统只有涩谷区是被堵上的那些液体才不会顺着街道上的井盖流进地下吗？编剧用点心吧..
无言以对，那些童言童语。Joaquin 的自然流露和 Woody 的鬼灵精怪产生了最奇妙的化学反应，2021年最后一天，这部电影带来的启示和幸福感满满。
那个液体也太听话了，都不主动往排水口走，bug很多不能细想。作为粉丝向电影因该是合格了，很多高人气角色都悉数登场。如果有喜欢的人物那应该算是值回票价了？
就不演了，直接动作片，不过开头的节奏挺好的，很刺激，后面柯南滑板飞到空中的那个场景太酷了吧，看到预告也很期待明年的剧场版。
我说，我会记住所有，然后提醒你。
大概是迈克米尔斯剧情最弱的一部，虽然依旧是一曲温暖的散文诗，但台词过于密集了，又没有中心，看着有些疲倦。
如果小朋友们是真纪录片还蛮有趣的，A24式的美国现代城市自白。华金凤和小男孩还挺有爱的

有种奇妙的矛盾感的电影。1.小男孩眼神空洞，像有着老者的灵魂，但又简单纯真。他validate emotion的常识，甚至比大多数成年人还多，但我又在想本是玩泥巴的年纪，知道这些究竟是好还是坏，本片也不回避，最后通过问答给出了“会比爸爸好”的答案，也算是叙事完整吧。2.全片一直在说要express feelings，但是电影却选择了压抑的黑白色调，导演必定有他的想法，无谓对错。美学确实足够，尤其是光线从窗户外照进植物上，美极了。
